- 8 oz smoked salmon, thinly sliced
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
- 1 tablespoon capers, drained and chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced
- 4 large lettuce leaves (e.g., romaine or butter lettuce)
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Optional: 1 tablespoon of horseradish cream for extra kick
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, chopped dill, capers, lemon juice, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and fully combined.
- Take a large cutting board or a clean surface to work with. Lay out the lettuce leaves flat.
- Place a generous spoonful of the cream cheese mixture on each lettuce leaf. Spread it evenly across the leaf, leaving some edges clear.
- Lay the thin cucumber slices over the cream cheese mixture on each leaf. Make sure to cover it well to add a refreshing crunch.
- Place a few slices of smoked salmon on top of the cucumber layer. You can overlap the slices to ensure good coverage.
- Starting from one end, carefully roll up the lettuce leaf tightly. Keep the filling inside as you roll.
- Optionally, you can use a toothpick to secure the end of the roll if needed.
- Place the roll-ups in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to set. This will help the flavors meld together beautifully.
- Once chilled, use a sharp knife to slice the roll-ups into bite-sized pieces. Arrange them on a platter.
