Description
A hearty and delicious cabbage and ground beef casserole that is perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients

- 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 cup (approx. 80g) chopped onion
- 1 orange bell pepper, chopped (optional)
- 1 head cabbage, chopped (approx. 900g-1kg)
- 28 ounces (794g) crushed tomatoes
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350ºF (175ºC).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain any excess grease.
- Season ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Stir in onion and orange bell pepper (if using) and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add cabbage and crushed tomatoes. Stir to combine. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
- Transfer to a greased 9×13 casserole dish. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 15 more minutes. Serve.
Notes
- This dish can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
- Feel free to add other vegetables or spices to suit your taste.
