A delicious, sweet pastry made with layers of phyllo dough, tahini, honey, and nuts.

- 1 package (16 oz) phyllo dough
- 1 cup smooth tahini
- 1 cup high-quality honey
- 1 cup chopped nuts (almonds or walnuts)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
- Unroll the phyllo dough and cover unused sheets with a damp towel.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
- In another bowl, mix tahini, honey, cinnamon, and chopped nuts.
- Brush melted butter on the baking dish and layer six sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each with butter.
- Spread half of the tahini filling over the last layer and top with another six sheets of phyllo, repeating the buttering process.
- Finish layering with the remaining filling and six final sheets of phyllo.
- Cut into squares or diamond shapes.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare simple syrup by boiling equal parts honey and water for 10 minutes; pour over baked bars while hot.
- Allow cooling before serving.
Notes
- This recipe can be made with either almonds or walnuts.
- Ensure that the phyllo dough stays covered to prevent it from drying out.
- Simple syrup can be flavored with lemon or orange zest for extra flavor.
