Description
This delicious chocolate chickpea hummus is a unique and sweet twist on the classic recipe.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can chickpeas (15 ounces) (drain and rinse)
- 10 Medjool dates (pitted)
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Heat 1 cup of water until hot, either in the microwave or on the stovetop. Pour it into a bowl over the pitted dates, then cover and let them soak for about 30 minutes.
- Add the soaked dates along with the soaking water, chickpeas, cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt to a food processor. Process for 2 to 3 minutes, scraping down the sides once or twice, until smooth and creamy.
- Taste the hummus, and if you’d like it a bit sweeter, add a touch of maple syrup and blend again until fully combined.
Notes
- This hummus can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
